SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for organizing and coordinating product management for the organization. Member of the Sales Management Committee.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service and professionalism.
- Responsible for projecting a positive image of AgReliant Genetics.
- Market Evaluation / Market Needs:
- Evaluate market trends for types of products (traditional, speciality, transgenic) and make recommendations for specific needs by Brand for each type of product.
- Product Evaluation:
- Assemble information on new and current products to be able to propose the best decision for replacement, filling “holes”, and adding new offerings to meet the needs of our customers;
- Works closely with research group and genetic suppliers to obtain the best products available;
- Help plan and attend field days and plot tours as required;
- Creates area of adaptation data and develop product placement information; and
- Interacts with research and product development to develop technical information to be used by marketing groups to promote products, traits, technology, etc.
- Trait & Technology Evaluation:
- Evaluates the importance and priority of current traits (traditional, specialty, transgenic).
- Determine needs by market, maturity, brand and access varieties to meet the demand.
- Research and evaluate new and/or potential traits and technology for their fit into the market place and brand lineups.
- Determines priorities for new trait introduction and assist in obtaining access by dialog with trait providers.
- Organize and evaluate supplier agreements.
- Genetic Supplier Interaction & Evaluation:
- Interacts with genetic suppliers to obtain the best products for our needs.
- Evaluate strengths, weaknesses, service, quality, value.
- Organize and evaluate supplier agreements.
- Product Coordination:
- Organizes and coordinates meetings for discussion of new products, production planning, production strategies, winter nurseries, variety management (between and within brands).
- Objectives are to create a product lineup that generates maximum profitability by providing lower costs of goods, production and distribution efficiencies, greater market penetration and customer satisfaction.
- Specialty Accounts Coordination:
- Responsible for representing AgReliant to key specialty product accounts when beneficial.
- Responsible to evaluate specialty product potential and assist in overall specialty product strategy for AgReliant.
- Position will assist Brands in marketing specialty products and will work closely with Research Department to analyze and select new specialty products.
- Agronomy Coordination:
- Responsible to coordinate corporate agronomy projects;
- Works with agronomy departments of brands when appropriate.
- New Experimental Testing Coordination:
- Responsible to work with brands and research departments to assist in product selection, implementation and maximization of NET program.
- Assists in the development of general marketing plans and strategies.
- Other duties as required.
Duties and responsibilities may be revised as needed by the VP / Sales & Marketing either verbally and/or in writing.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science in Agronomy or related field desired, Masters degree preferred; five years experience preferred; excellent communication skills, team player; detail orientated; good computer skills – Excel and Word; knowledge of seed industry required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work required hours; ability to lift 25 lbs.; must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR guidelines; some overnight travel required.
