SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Directs the sales efforts of assigned region so as to achieve maximum sales, increased market penetration, and efficient distribution of product; co-responsible for recruiting and training of District Sales Managers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service and professionalism.
- Responsible for projecting a positive image of Great Lakes Hybrids and AgReliant Genetics.
- Manage all day to day personnel sales activity within the RTL’s assigned area of responsibility.
- Oversee daily sales activity of each DSM in assigned area:
- Daily communication – face to face, telephone, voice mail, e-mail.
- Ride and sell with each DSM a minimum of twice per month.
- Provide assistance in building a district business plan, goal setting.
- Conduct monthly team meetings to implement marketing plan.
- Coach & evaluate DSM’s on sales presentation skills based on 10 Steps of Selling training.
- Provide training when necessary in areas of sales weakness.
- Require and collect written weekly activity reports when necessary.
- Approve expense reports for assigned DSM’s and e-mail to AgReliant office for review and reimbursement.
- Prepare assigned DSM budgets for the National Sales Manager.
- Monitor monthly DSM budgets to manage overspending and maintain sound expense management by assigned DSM’s.
- Attend Regional Team Leader meetings held on a regular basis by the National Sales Manager to report team sales progress and receive update information on GLH brand sales progress and marketing direction.
- Attend meetings of the sales & marketing committee when necessary, to provide input on implementation of marketing plan and sales approach.
- When necessary, assist National Sales Manager and Brand Manager at national sales functions in presentations and sales training as they pertain to his/her assigned team.
- Update National Sales Manager on a weekly basis as to the individual sales progress of assigned sales team members as well as any situations that need to be addressed to assure successful implementation of all marketing programs.
- Recommend to the National Sales Manager, personnel additions and changes in his/her assigned sales team.
- When necessary, direct the hiring and termination process of personnel on his/her assigned team.
- Implement the marketing plan of the Great Lakes Hybrids brand through the DSM’s on his/her assigned team.
- Communicate product performance information and special product needs within his/her team to the Great Lakes Hybrids Product Manager and National Sales Manager.
- Monitor all sales team goals, forecasts and product needs assigned to his/her team and report to the National Sales Manager.
- Communicate clear sales expectations and marketing program guidelines to his/her assigned DSM’s to assure correct and successful implementation.
- Other duties as required.
Duties and responsibilities may be revised as needed by the National Sales Manager either verbally and / or in writing.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or related field desired; five years seed industry experience preferred; excellent communication skills; team oriented; detail orientated; required computer skills – MS Excel and Word.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work required hours; ability to lift 25 lbs.; must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR guidelines; some overnight travel required. |
