GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under the supervision of the Biotechnology Coordinator, assists with the field and laboratory aspects of the Company Biotechnology Program including seed preparation, planting and field plot maintenance, disease and insect deployment, note taking, harvest, DNA collection and extraction.
- Seed preparation for field experiments.
- Planting, maintenance and harvest of field experiments in proximity of the Lebanon Station.
- Coordinating planting of field experiments at other AgReliant research stations.
- Deploying insect larvae and disease inoculum and take notes in field experiments.
- Supervision of seasonal staff as required.
- Oversee plant tissue collection in winter nursery and assist with DNA extraction.
- Assists with laboratory work as required.
- Other duties as needed.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Two years plant breeding or plant pathology related experience required, five years preferred; B.S. degree in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, or Plant Protection preferred;
- Excellent planning & organizational skills; ability to plan and manage multiple projects completely and accurately;
- Problem analysis and resolution skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Self-motivated, detail orientated, proactive.
- Working knowledge of MS Office: Excel, Access and PowerPoint & Common PC-based software.
- Positive team player.
OTHER:
- Ability to work require hours.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and walk fields; ability to work in both field and station as required
- Must have a valid driver’s license, able to obtain Commercial Drivers License, and meet AgReliant Genetics Motor Vehicle Guidelines.
- Some overnight travel required.
